From the Crafty Llama Tables

In one of our favourite Halloween sessions, this scarecrow served as the horrifying guardian of a “blessed field” maintained by a rural cult. When the party entered the village, everything seemed normal—except the locals never blinked and insisted that no one go near the old fields after sunset.

Of course, they went anyway.

As the moon rose, the scarecrow animated with a snap of its ropes and let out a croaking hiss that wasn’t quite a scream. The party’s paladin was grappled mid-prayer, the rogue was terrified into paralysis, and only a well-timed command spell kept the scarecrow from ripping the ranger in half.
