Chuul Miniature – Deepwater Abomination by Yasashii Kyojin Studio
Beneath the still black waters of forgotten lakes and shadowed ocean trenches, something ancient stirs. Part crustacean, part nightmare, all malice—the Chuul Miniature – Deepwater Abomination by Yasashii Kyojin Studio embodies the lurking terror of the deep. Sculpted with eerie detail and monstrous anatomy, this creature is perfect for ambushes, alien encounters, or eldritch horrors from the ocean’s abyss.
Whether it serves a forgotten god, guards a sunken temple, or stalks its prey from the reeds, this miniature evokes tension, suspense, and awe. It’s the kind of enemy that turns a quiet shoreline into the scene of a legendary battle.
Alien Horror From Below
This Yasashii Kyojin sculpt captures the unsettling anatomy of a chuul with dramatic elegance:
-
Massive segmented claws with serrated inner edges, ideal for grabbing prey
-
Elongated tendrils writhing from its mouthparts—perfect for paralytic strikes
-
Armoured carapace detailed with organic ridges and otherworldly texture
-
Long insectoid limbs with menacing posture and unnatural symmetry
Paint this model in murky sea tones—mottled greens, shell blacks, oil-slick purples—or go vibrant and alien with golds, reds, or abyssal blues. However you approach it, the sculpt has layers of visual story waiting to be revealed.

From the Crafty Llama Tables
In one of our sea-bound campaigns, the party stumbled across a strange coral-encrusted temple deep in a saltwater cave. While exploring a sunken vault, the rogue was suddenly paralyzed mid-dive—without any sign of the attacker. That’s when the chuul surfaced from beneath an outcropping, tendrils writhing, dragging the rogue toward a crevice while the others fought to keep him from disappearing into the darkness.
The miniature we used for that encounter turned a tense dive into a moment the group still talks about today—claustrophobic, terrifying, and unforgettable. That’s what minis like this chuul are made for.
